| Kyung
and Michael Kim have
been
piano
faculty members at
Brandon
University ’s School
of Music since
2008, where
Kyung is currently
Adjunct Professor of Piano, and Michael
is the School
of Music’s
current Dean of Music. |

They
have performed
together regularly as a piano duo since they met in
1998, touring throughout the U.S., Canada, and Korea to critical
acclaim. Formerly piano faculty members at Lawrence
University’s
Conservatory of Music (Appleton, WI), the Kim Duo were annual guests of
Wisconsin Public Radio’s Live From the Chazen and Chicago
WFMT
radio’s
Live From WFMT recital broadcast series, and performing as soloists
with various Midwestern U.S. orchestras.
Both winners of numerous competitive awards,
and accomplished
artists and teachers in their own right, Kyung has appeared as concerto
soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician throughout the U.S., Canada,
China, Hong Kong, Korea, Austria, and Hungary, also appearing at the
Niagara, Heifetz, Bartok, Salzburg Mozarteum, and Clear Lake summer
music festivals. Michael has also toured extensively
throughout
the
Canada, U.S., U.K., and Korea as concerto soloist, recitalist, and
chamber musician at numerous venues and summer festivals.
Kyung holds her Doctor of Musical Arts degree from
the University
of Wiconsin at Madison, and Michael his Doctor of Musical Arts degree
from the Juilliard School of Music in New York. |
| Alexander
Tselyakov
has been professor of piano at Brandon University since 2003. During
the mid-1980s, Alexander managed teaching at two Russian music
institutes in addition to winning awards such as the Tokyo
International Piano Competition (1983) and at the famed International
Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow (1986). He was also appointed concert
piano soloist to the Byelorussian State Philharmonic Orchestra.

In
1991, Alexander
and his family left Russia for Israel then
immigrated to Canada in 1994, making is Toronto debut in December. He
has performed at Carnegie Recital Hall in New York, Wigmore Hall in
London, The Corcoran Gallery of Art (Washington), The Centre Culturel
(Paris, France), the International Piano Festival in Istanbul, and
Koffler Centre (Toronto)to name only a few. He is a frequent and always
welcome guest artist on the Virtuosi Concert stage.
Daniel
Tselyakov
has won many
scholarships, trophies and awards, including the Phyllis and Dorothy
Hotlby Scholarship, the Women’s Musical Club of Winnipeg
Scholarship
Competition, and the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra Young Player Award.
He currently studies with his father, Alexander Tselyakov, at Brandon
University. Daniel also participated in master classes with Pierre
Reach, Michael Kim, Marc André Hamelin, Kyoko Hashimoto,
André Laplante
and Jamie Parker. By the age of 14, he had performed Chopin Piano
Concerto No.2 as a soloist with the Penderecki String Quartet and a
world première performance of Canadian composer Jim
Hiscott’s ‘Amador’.
At 17 years, Daniel became the youngest musician ever to be invited to
the Virtuosi stage in the 2008-2009 season.

Conductor
Michelle
Mourre has most recently
been the recipient of the 2009 Heinz Unger National Conducting Award,
as well as the Jean-Marie Baudet Award in Orchestral Conducting
presented by the Canada Council for the Arts.

Currently
the Artistic Director
of the
Brandon Chamber Players, she has distinguished herself as a conductor
of artistic vision and integrity. Prior to her Brandon appointment, she
served for three years as Conductor in Residence of the Winnipeg
Symphony Orchestra, where she made her mark as a versatile leader and
audience favourite.. Ms. Mourre holds a Master’s Degree in
Orchestral
and Operatic Conducting from Indiana University, where she studied with
Imre Pallo and Thomas Baldner. Recent performances have included her
successful debut appearances with the Toronto Symphony and Symphony
Nova Scotia as well as a return engagement with the Winnipeg Symphony
Orchestra
