Blind since birth, Nobuyuki Tsujii shared First Prize at the 2009 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition and was featured in the acclaimed PBS film documentary of the Competition, “A Surprise in Texas”. Following Nobu’s Carnegie Hall recital debut in November 2011, Van Cliburn himself said, “What a thrill to hear this brilliant, very gifted, fabulous pianist. You feel God’s presence in the room when he played.”

Virtuosi Concerts is proud to join with the WSO in introducing Nobuyuki Tsujii to Winnipeg audiences. He will appear with the WSO in two performances of Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 3 (January 18 & 19), and as part of the Virtuosi subscription series in a Sunday afternoon concert recital featuring works by Debussy and Chopin (January 20). A special evening screening of “A Surprise in Texas” will also be held in Eckhardt-Gramatté Hall a day before his performances.
