Ukrainian-born
Serhiy Salov
received his early musical training at the Special Music School of
Donetsk studying piano, composition and improvisation. At the age of 11
he gave his debut as a soloist in Grieg's Piano Concerto with the
National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine. In 1994 he went to Germany to
study at the Musikhochschule in Freiburg, where his teachers there were
Tibor Szasz and Michel Beroff. Serhiy has garned prizes from the very
start of his career, from First Prize at the Grotrian - Steinweg Piano
Competition in Braunschweig, Germany in 1995 to claiming First Prize in
the Montreal International Piano Competition in 2004. In 2006 he was a
finalist in the Honens International Piano Competition.
