DREAMS
OF
TRANSCENDENCE
Ang
Li, piano
“From
the word go, her effortless pianism was supercharged with intensity and
genuine involvement, with real feeling for color and dramatic contrast.
This is a young artist with something special.” (
New York Concert Review)
Ang
Li was born
in 1985 in Beijing and made her first public appearance at the Beijing
Concert Hall at age six. At the age of ten, she moved to study in the
US and at thirteen, she made her orchestral debut with the Little
Orchestra Society of New York in Avery Fisher Hall. Ang Li holds a
Bachelor’s Degree from The Curtis Institute of Music and a
Master’s Degree from The Juilliard School (2006). She
completed
her studies with an Artist Diploma at Texas Christian University, where
she studied with Yoheved Kaplinsky in 2009.
. Ms. Li is a recipient of numerous honors and prizes. She was awarded
first prize and five special prizes at the 2003 OSM Competition in
Montreal. Ms. Li was twice chosen to compete at the
prestigious
Van Cliburn International Piano Competition where she was chosen as one
of the top 35 pianists in 2005 and top 30 in 2009. As the winner of the
2007 Contemporary Record Society Competition, Ms. Li recorded a CD for
the CRS featuring chamber music by Brahms and Russo, and contemporary
solo piano works by Schlenck. Ms Li will record another album for CRS
in 2010.
