AUDIENCE COMMENTS

What a wonderful concert. Thank you so much. (AS)

J.S. Bach – wonderful warm sounds from both instruments. A great partnership with each partner playing the main part or otherwise – a great partnership.  Beethoven – each artist showed their ability to make the instrument “sing” and the interplay of parts was a treat for the listener. For me, I think they even took a breath simultaneously. Whether the music danced or was intense and deep, the artists were a perfect match. Virtuosity with ease!  7 Variations – a “simple” melody played by two outstanding artists to make a masterpiece of beauty. Brahms – intense, exciting, many emotions expressed without any emphasis on the huge demands on the ability of the artist. My musical cup runneth over.  Chopin – an extra treat. (VH)

Wonderful to have Colin Carr and Thomas Sauer in Winnipeg again. Their playing is amazing. (EG)

I’ve been waiting for this concert, and Colin Carr and Thomas Sauer did not disappoint. I first heard Carr’s superb cello concert at the Cello Festival a number of years ago, and he just gets better. More than anyone, he just makes the cello sing – and he manages to make it look almost effortless. (Anon)

I enjoy every aspect of these concerts – from the friendly person who deals with requests to change tickets to the wine sampling and cookies and coffee. The atmosphere is welcoming and warm. Every concert I have attended has surpassed my expectations. I have so enjoyed this season!! Thank you for all the work you do to pull together such outstanding musicians. (SS)

Excellent concert!! So pleased to have Colin Carr and Thomas Sauer. (MPL)

Wonderful, as usual. The Beethoven was especially very exciting. I would like to see these two both again soon. The Mozart variations were just so delightful. The Brahms was great. One of the best musical experiences of the year. (HT)

Excellent (DW)

I would love to hear more cello concerts on your program! (SS)

I am new to the Virtuosi concerts and I am enthralled with the music and the talent of the musicians. I hope to be back in the new season. Thank you. (DD)

THE Cello Recital – If you love the cello, as I have come to do with changes in my hearing range, this was a wonderful concert.  Both Colin Carr and Thomas Sauer are master musicians. They approached the music thoughtfully and with sensitivity. The program was well-crafted, and introduced some new pieces that were very interesting. I really loved the Brahms the most, but the other pieces were very satisfying too. Of course, the Chopin encore was rich and appreciated. Thanks for bringing these artists. This was a wonderful way to end the season. It has been a great year. Your choices have all been wonderful. I am looking forward to sharing the program with other friends for next year too. Warmest thanks to all the Virtuosi team. (GB)
